Concerning Trench Coat Samurai

I've been quiet about what's going on with Trench Coat Samurai for so long, I decided to come out of hiding and show you a preview of what I'm working on.

Fans of the series will be familiar of this scene, now redone to take advantage of the full page format I'm working in. This is also a great way to really introduce everyone to my new Assistant Colorist, Thomas Boatwright, and extremely talented artist you should all check out right now.

I hope to announce my plans for the series soon. Keep watching.

Okay. Back into hiding.

Another Kind Of Pinup

The unexpected reaction to my John Carter piece from a month ago was a request for more nude men. Seems there are women who enjoy art with naked dudes. Who'd have thought?

This piece is actually a commission. A model I've worked with wanted me to do a pinup of her husband, who was a bit shy from what I was told.

Anyway, it's not much as a composition, but I'm happy with how the drawing turned out, and, most importantly, both the subject and his better half are satisfied with it. And, in the end, that's all that really matters.

This was done, as always, with my trusty Cross fountain pen, PITT markers and some Staedtler Fineliners. Color provided by Photoshop. Catering by Stop & Shop.

Barsoom

A final commission for a long time client, this time placing my characters from "Casual Fridays" on Barsoom with John Carter. Of course, everyone is dressed in the height of Martian fashion.

This is sort of a fond farewell to these characters. I've been drawing Pam and Holly since the summer of 2010. I'm sure I'll find ways for them to cameo in other projects.

Fun fact, this depiction of John Carter is actually more accurate than the recent Disney movie. The characters in Burroughs' original books were described as naked. So, yeah, maybe an R rated, all nude John Carter might've been a bigger hit.

This was done with an HB pencil on bristol. The border was done with a Sharpie.

Goddess Nudes

Here's an illustration I did for the Goddess Nudes front page.

GN is run by Mr. Eolake Stobblehouse, owner and proprietor of DOMAI. You might remember, I did a short comic called "Casual Fridays" for him a few years ago, as well as other illustrations over the past couple years.

I based this illustration on Selene Drake, an internet model I've gotten to know through SuicideGirls. I've promised to work her into one of my comics at some point.

This illustration was done with my trusty Cross fountain pen, Windsor Newton #5 watercolor brush, Staedtler fineliners and Photoshop.

Amanda

Another portrait of Amanda. Tried to have a little more patience with the coloring on this one, and I think the results were worth it. It's a little more painterly, a little less comic-booky.

As usual, this was inked with my trusty Cross fountain pen, a Windsor Newton watercolor brush and Staedtler fineliners. Color done in Photoshop.

Zombie Outlaw

Illustration I provided for Brian Apodaca & Benny Jordan's Zombie Outlaw. This will appear on the back cover of issue 2, and will also feature somewhere inside the comic.

Brian wrote all of the text. He also provided all the ideas. I just sorted through them and came up with what I thought he'd like.

If you haven't checked out Zombie Outlaw, do so. It's a fun read.

This was done on bristol, with my trusty Cross fountain pen, Windsor Newton watercolor brushes, Staedtler fineliners and Photoshop.
